Three.

It's approximately 8:45 p.m. right now as I type and 3 months from now I will officially be Mrs. Sara Davis who will be celebrating on the dance floor, taking some photobooth shots and of course smiling from ear to ear as I greet all my guests.

3 months! 

Time has gone by so fast and I'm so thankful! I got my dress and it fits...let's go to the chapel! My agenda for tonight is that I can't go to bed tonight until I book our hotel for our first night and order some wedding shoes! So exciting!

Reunited

Today I (Sara) came home to take care of some wedding stuff and spend some time with my family. Tomorrow we are surprising my uncle with a birthday party outing which will be fun but I'm 100% sure he doesn't read my blog so its okay that I spilled those beans to you.

Today I treated dad to The Cheesecake Factory for lunch because he had never been and he was nice enough to tag along while I went to pick up my diamond. Dad and I killed the red velvet cheesecake. Oh so yum! It was a fun father daughter date.

Now for the brief diamond story. I just so happened to get a little frustrated with my printer one night when it jammed back in January. Stuck both hands in and tugged and tugged. Not a good idea. About an hour later that night I realized one of my tiny diamonds was MIA. Well never found it and what was I to do with it anyways if I found it. So for three weeks now I have not been wearing my ring because it was at the store getting fixed and finally resized. I sure did miss that beauty and I am a very happy girl to proudly be wearing it again.

Don't fret, I was in the parking lot when I took this.

What a glorious day! Reunited with my ring. Day with the family. Lots of sunshine. (71 degrees in the Queen City to be exact!)

Tomorrow I go pick up my wedding dress that was purchased over 5 months ago! I had to have it custom fitted and I can't wait to be reunited with it again too!

Thankful Thursday-Update!

Just wanted to share that within several hours after posting that post God provided in the best way possible. No we didn't win the lottery (not sure if that would be the best thing anyways or a sign from God) but I did get some great news today that has to do with everything I blogged about.

I knew God would provide.
I didn't know how.

I didn't know when and certainly didn't expect it would be this soon. More details to come but for now I am going to get some much needed sleep! Busy weekend ahead for me but I'm most excited about being with my family. All starts early tomorrow as I drive home, pick up dad, take him to lunch and then to pick up my engagement ring. Bet you are curious about that story....details tomorrow!

Thankful Thursday

Sometimes I freak out. I'm human. I'm a girl. Lately mostly it has been small freakouts about the things that marriage brings. More bills. Combined rent. Two checking accounts or one? How to compromise. Will we have enough money? Money, money, money. Why are we like that as humans...

All of which I know are foolish to think about. God always provides. 

But the devil sure does like to mess with me. I'm aware of it so thankfully I beat him off with the power of God. Which brings me to my thankful Thursday. All my life I have been graciously provided for and I owe that to my parents. Money never grew on trees. I watched my parents work (and they still do) very hard to provide for our family and get us what we needed. My parents also taught me to work hard and appreciate whatever life gives me. We were always blessed. Rain or shine. 

As we approach marriage, I'm realizing how incredibly blessed we are to have this mindset already instilled in us. We may just be in college but I'm so amazed at how Todd is determined to work as many jobs as he needs to so that we can just simply live. This summer I too will have to get a job since more than likely my assistantship will not be offered in the summer. Whatever job I get will not equal the pay I get during the school year. Instead of being down in the dumps, I'm grateful that I can be optimistic that I will work hard wherever I go and appreciate whatever I make.

Our parents have taught us one of the most basic but important lesson in life, even if they never realize it.  

God will provide.
Keep the faith.
Our reward is much greater than what this Earth has to offer.

But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Old School is Cool

All this week I have been studying for a cataloging test. Yup, cataloging. As in the old fashion way of writing typing on an index card all the information about a book.

Did you know?

...that works such as the Bible, Mother Goose & the Three Bears are called Uniform Title meaning an agreed standard title for the work....
...the author or title on the actual card catalog is described as main entry, not just title/author...
...the info on the back of the title page is called verso...

I could also get into how I have now memorized all the Dewey classification numbers but I'll save you the boredom. Despite how this post sounds, I do love my graduate studies. Except the art of cataloging. We don't get along and all the lingo is weird but I know its something I need to learn therefore I will. However, please take note I have no intentions of ever being a cataloger and these days most cataloging is done via computer anyways.

Technology makes things so much easier and efficient. Even though the process of old fashion cataloging makes me want to pull my hair out, I do have a secret love for it. My dad talks about when he used to go to the library he would have to look in the catalog through the cards to find his book. I can't imagine doing that. Yet still there is something about seeing an old card catalog that warms my heart. Our campus library has started getting rid of these cards and using them as scratch paper. One day I found myself looking at them for at least twenty minutes. Anyways, enough about that, finally my point. Maybe somewhere in your heart you find old card catalogs interesting as well. I have a love for all things antique. That is why today, in the spirit of catalogs I wanted to share something that I found years ago that is a semi-DIY idea.

Thanks to blyberg.net  you can generate your very own card catalog. Confused? Here is the idea: you can write a love note, catalog your old favorite book, special day or gift tag. Here is what I'm thinking: for the call number I want to do something that incorporates our wedding date such as 528.2011 which actually mimics a Dewey call number. For the title (main entry-trying to embed those words in my head for my test, remember) I think I will do something such as The Story of Todd and Sara. Then for description I'll either write a little summary about how we met or maybe I'll write about the wedding day. Possibilities are endless so go give it a try and have some fun with it! Wish I had one made up for you to see but as soon as I do (and framed) I will post about it.

PS: my favorite part is the scribble areas...how cute! Let me know if you try any, I'd love to see them!

99 Days!

Welcome to our brand new blog! As you all know I have had a blog for a loooooong time. As the months to our wedding are getting closer I debated if I should just stop blogging all together or join up with Todd and share more about life together as a team. Together, Todd and I talked about it for several weeks. Eventually we decided just not to have a blog at all. But that thought quickly made the chopping block because we both love to write and share. Ultimately we knew how much we love reading our friends' blogs and figured it is a great way to keep up with everyone better in a more personal way. So with that said, that brings us here....our very own virtual space.

When settling on a blog name Todd immediately wanted "The Davis Daily" and we began to search for that as our URL address but it was taken. Thus we decided to keep it easy for friends and family to remember, so we named the URL after us. Now we have the freedom to title our blog whatever we want and for now its "The Davis Daily." Kind of catchy right? :)

Now I know what you may be thinking right now. "Sara isn't a Davis yet!" Yup, good job, you're correct. I'm aware of that. However we are now down to double digits--99 days! Lots of exciting things are starting to really take off that we want to share with you. To us the real fun has started. The time where we see the light at the end of this tunnel. Okay bad analogy, engagement has not been difficult or a creepy dark place. But you get my drift. Anyways we wanted to kick things off today in celebration of the big day being so close and we want you all to be a part of the journey.

As always I'm also going to continue posting things of my interest and Todd (new to the blog world) will hopefully start getting adjusted to posting every now and then. He is a really good writer (also always grammatically correct unlike myself) so I hope he shares his style with you . Thats the plan anyways. We want this to be somewhat of a co-effort, granted I'm a blogaholic so naturally you will see me more.

My old blog will still be on the world wide web for the world to see but I however will no longer be posting there. I thought about exporting it into this one but this is a new start and I want to keep it that way. Make sure you subscribe to our posts and change any sidebars you have to this new blog instead of my old one because that one for the most part is now going to forever be stopped on February 15, 2011!
